should the owner has to pay for my personal belongings that got damaged due to a leak in the house?

we had a leak in the living room floor during a few days now … the leak has also come into our garage and all our stuff has been sitting in water for three days one now! the owner broke the cement in the garage with a jack hammer, and did not think to cover anything in the garage so now theres a thick layer of "dust" on all my stuff! golf clubs, rack glass, furniture, training equipment … I had to move a rack from inside the house when the leak was … and have been without hot water all day (he was to move the water heater to get where the "thinking" of the leak came from) and will be fixed until he says it will take a couple of days more …. in case you have to pay for my furniture damaged?? or off our income?? if your homeowners insurance covers such things??
